What water conditioners do you guys use?

I'm currently using Tetra's Aquasafe and it works pretty well imo. But it's sort of expensive and I'm thinking that all the chemicals in it are at worst mildly harmful and at best mildy beneficial with it probably landing somewhere in the middle like useless. I also have some Amquel+ for emergencies, which I haven't had to use yet :dance2:.

I guess I'm really surprised that the little guys do so well with just some tap water, happy bacteria, and a little bit of love.

I also use Prime. Something like $9 for a 250ml bottle at a lfs and since its 5ml per 50 gallons that gives me roughly 50 water changes worth. For measuring you can also get an infant medicine dropper from your local pharmacy. They usually give them away at the pharmacy counter and that way you can easily dose in 1ml stages. That is 1ml per 10 gallons.

I vote for Prime, too. I prefer the conditioners that dont' add extra stuff, like herbs and vitamins and junk. You're just paying for stuff you don't need and the fish might not even be able to use. I used to use Amquel+, but the Prime lasts much much longer.

They have prime on drsfostersmith.com for 4.79 for 250ml bottle if you are already shoping for other things its a deal. Although nine dollars is still a great deal for how concentrated it is.

Same price at big als also. Sadly the last time I placed an order (2 weeks ago) I forgot that I was pretty much out of Prime until I went to do a water change.

I only ever use Prime...it is also very economical in the 2L and 4L sizes.

i use Prime as well, only switched to it because i wanted to cycle with Bio-Spira, and they only work well with either Bio-Safe or Prime. so far its great, very concentrated although i think i use too much during my water changes so i've adjusted accordingly.

Kordel, but only because I get it when the LFS's put it out on the clearance table during a fire sale.
