Safe cut question regarding Nana

I have cut the anubias nana plants because they had the rotting rhisome. The plants seem fine and both of them have a new leaf now.
However, since I have never cut the aquatic plants before, I don't know if this is normal - the scar of the plants now seem brownish.
I know it's very common to have that colour on the 'ground plants' scars, but is it normal here? Thanks.

turin, the end being a bit brownish is normal. however, if you notice it starting to turn darker and beginning to rot, dispose of that ailing section and rub some crushed carbon onto it. the carbon application is not really necessary but it would help to decontaminate any oddities which may have caused the rotting.

cutting the rhizome is harmless to the plant; it would just shoot out another sprout from that point on. you can even dump a bare rhizome, as short as an inch long, into the water and it will still grow out a brand new plant.
