Giant danios, crazy fish !

My 75g is currently sans top & lighting. It's temporary. One giant danio, in his feeding fervor, leapt at a piece of food and landed on my carpet. This was a first for me with a fish. I may need to wear a mask while feeding them to keep tank water from hitting my face. ;)

I usually just toss the food into the Aquaclear outflow so they feed in the tank while quickly feeding the angel at the other end but they keep snatching food from right in front of the angel, like 2 mm from the angel's mouth.

I may have to relocate the angel and gouramis. I'm not sure they are compatible with these crazy fast swimmers.

fast swimming fish can freak angels out, and like you have seen, can out compete them for food. i would switch the gouramis and angel into a different tank and then get some more giant dainios to keep this one company, unless you have more than 3, but i wasnt sure.
 
yeah the giant danios are wild and crazy fish. i have 3 of them in my tank and have them jump and splash me with water at least once a week, though i have never had one jump outta my tank. they are fun watch when they are in groups in how they chase everyone each other around the tank.
 
Giant danios, or any danios for that matter, are finned, swimming spastics.....they make you tired just watching them! However, giant danios make great dither fish for some cichlids...I like them!
 
Talk about crazy (or, kuh-ray-zee) fish...while pulling water out using a 1/2" I.D. vinyl tube for a siphon I couldn't keep my danios away from the darn tube opening. Swatting them, moving to another location, it didn't matter. Too darn crazy and curious...ended up having to pull a bunch of them out of the bucket I drained the water into (after they made a trip down the tube). No harm, they just kept swimming after being tossed back into the tank.

Nutty fish!
