Hello all, I've had my frogspawn for about 2 weeks now. It came with 5 branches. The frogspawn comes out really big on three braches but on the other two, it seems like theyre inside most of the time. My water parameters are reading good, amm 0, nitrite 0, ph 8.3, nitrate 0. I have 34 watts in my 10 gallon tank. Im currently feeding my frogspawn and other corals live phytoplankton and 2 other supplements, only feed twice a week. What could be wrong here?
Give it some meaty foods once a week and see if that perks it up a bit. Also what is your calcium,ph and kh? It might be pouting over wahter conditons.

ok.
well i can think of water flow, competition from surrounding corals, light, predatation.

do you notice any brown stringy stuff around them you will have to look very closly if you do "I know this cause it happend to me" you could hvae the start of brown jelly desiease this thing is a very nasty disease my frog spawn consisted of 2 very healthy heads and one of the heads started staying inside not comming out or only partially comming out then i started noticing this brown slime type stuff in 4 days one head was completly destroyed. How can you stop this you ask... well i did 3 things First i sucked out all of the destroyed head i could then I diped the Frog spawn in freash RO water for 2 mins. While that was soaking i prepared a dip of Kent's Lugol's Solution i put in 40 drops to 1 gallon of tank water then i placed my frog spawn my open brain and my finger leather into the dip for 15 mins directly after the freash water dip then placed them back in the tank. There were some very intersting reactions from all the corals the open brain which is red and metalic green got a very very deep red and when back in the main tank slimed a little bit and returned to normal in about 15 mins of being back in the tank with the exception of very vivid coloration. the finger reactided as expected he slimed and created a shell around him and in a couple of days he shead that skin and was better than ever. The Frog spawn had a huge reaction though when i put him back in the tank he started sliming like crazy and what i think was the zooathalga (sorry for spelling) started streamin off the tips like a fine web I was so worried when i saw this about 2 hrs later the sliming stoped and then about 2 days pasted and BAM the 1 head i saved poped out better than ever the green tips were back and no ill effects have been noticed I did loose the 1 head as it was just to late for it but i saved the other and now it has been 3 weeks i guess and it has doubbled in size. I will say this just because you don't see the brown jelly dose not mean a thing because it works from the inside out. I can tell you this while I was suctioning the bad head I noticed a putrid and i mean putrid smell that is caused by the brown jelly just take the frog spawn out and smell it you will know LOL. I know this may sound corny or extream but I was willing to take extream action to save a $100 Coral well I saved $50 dollars of it any how. Now I add 1 drop of lugol's solution every week and IMO it has been a direct cause of my corals growth/health. I got it from Dr. Fosters&Smiths for around $12.00. Just FYI this disease is very very common in frog spawns hammer corals and torches it hits hard and very very fast.
I hope this helps,
Ron
