Hey All,
Lately I've had to use Tetra Blackwater extract instead of Kent Blackwater Expert(which I like alot more). Now I may be wrong but it seems with the tetra the water will be clear again in about two hours. When I used Kent I never had this problem. I don't use charcoal because it takes all the good stuff out. Maybe I'm just off my rocker or I started doing something different.

Any ideas gang
Thanks, Todd:D

Are you using it as stated on the bottle? It works fine here.

Yea I follow directions on all that stuff. It's almost like my water looks clearer than before I put it in. Maybe kent uses more peat in their mix.

That's odd. Because the peat colour cannot disappear itself - water must be filtered or changed... but you said you don't have a charcoal in the filter.. hmm.
The only difference between these two products should be how much they make water go brown, not for how many days. Strange.

When I still used it, I preferred Kent's. But I don't use any of those products any more and don't miss it.

Well, I don't have any input on you question...Rather, I got questions of my own. :D I'm glad to see that some people actually use the Kent Blackwater Extract.

I'm trying to lower my GH to breed some dwarf cichlids. I've tried the peat thing and that isn't too helpful. Space is limited and I need a good amount of peat to be affective (Garbage Can funnel Technique).

So my question is "What does it actually do?" and "How do you like the product?".

Lowering the PH isn't a problem for me, it's just the softening aspect that's a big problem for me.

My tap conditions:

PH 7.6
dKH 4
dGH 6

Thanks much.
