In a few months, summer will come and the UV rays will be shining full blast at my room.

This going to be a big threat to my cold water fishes!!! How do I keep the water cold during summer? I can't keep on changing water since they will heat up quickly in a few minutes. And I have nowhere else to move it but my room.

Closing the blinds won't do. That's for sure.

Cyber, to Aquaria Central, home of the coldest fishkeepers on the internet...

What fish do you have? How long have you had them and what was your experience last year?

I'm also wondering why blinds wouldn't work in your room? Could you do curtains?

Let me/us know.

Val

There aren't really that many bettas mean enough to hold their own against anything, let alone a Polypterus spp. fish!

Seriously, you could try a chiller with TEM technology, though others in the Freshwater DIY section would be better able to instruct you on how to use these wonderful devices and what to look for when purchasing them.

closing blinds or curtains would just trap the heat in.

i would say direct a fan across the surface of the water, as this should keep things cool. its so much more cheaper than a chiller, and in my opinion it works just as good.
