I recently started a 10g planted tank. Because I don't have any chemical to clean the plants, the tank now is heavily infested with snails. But I don't know whether I can use those medication a not as they may be harmful to the plants. So is there a safer way to remove the snails instead?

By hand is pretty safe. Unless these are extremely dangeroius to your plants, I would cut down on feeding fish a little bit and let the snails strike a natural balance within that tank. If you want to get rid of them, though, crush the snails against the glass and let your fish have an escargot feast!

You should figure out what type of sanils you have to see if they are plant eaters. The most common ones that come in on plants are ramshorns or sometimes maylaisian livebearing snails. Both of wich I find very beneficail to planted tanks.

Plus, they really need to be kept in groups in something along the lines of a 40 gallon.

I think that we are at an impasse until the snails are identified.
