Just wanted to get the opinion of the folks here on weather I just pushed my tank over the limit today as far as population goes. The short story is I made the bad choice of buying live plants from a chain store over a year ago. They came with snails. Snails ate the plants and I've been trying to kill them off in way or anouther ever since. After a year of looking I finnally found my secret weapon  . Yoyo loaches  . I had to drive 300 miles to get them but hay! Finnally have them.
So basically I have a 36 gallon tank with an adult population of 100 snails, 4 neons, 4 white clouds, 2 bronze corries, 2 spotted cories, a male betta and now 3 1"-1.5" yoyo's. I've kinda been lax on the water changes over the summer but I usaully do a 15 gallon change a week give or take afew days.
So what do you all think?

Those are cool fish. Hard to find, but I guess I don't have to tell you that! LOL Places that do get them don't have them long before they sell.

I don't think you're really overstocked, you have some low-bioload fish in there, and from the tankmates and the fact that you didn't mention aggression - the Betta should be fine with them.

I know the snails are in there, but that's not going to be a long-term thing. Snails aren't supposed to be big bioload-wise, but a hundred of anything is a lot. Just keep a good watch on parameters and I think you'll get on just fine.

Do you have any plants left? Plants will help because of the nutrients they consume.... But if they're notning but snail food....

Doesn't sound overstocked, but yoyo loaches can be semi-aggressive fish. Probably not a worry at the size they are at now, but watch them as they get larger.

not overstocked. do your cories all swim together or do they stay in separate groups? you could add one more to each group, might make them even happier.

Ya the cories are one big group now days. The two spotted are the runts of the pack but they don't seem to care. After a year together they seem to have a pecking order and school as one group so I'm not worried about them.

And yes 300 miles mind you is round trip. So really just 2 and a half hours either way. Good pet shops are hard to find in Wisconsin these days. The only loaches I've ever seen are clowns and once in a GREAT while kulies. I wanted yoyo's specifically for they're adult size. They seem to be the smallest of the loaches. So in my book very special fish.
Snails are Rams horn and pond. And no I no longer have any plants left at all. Once the loaches start making an impact on the snails  mwa ha ha... Erm I do plan on getting some real plants again . I must say that so far the loaches seem to be kick the snails butts.

Yoyo loaches are not even close to the smallest loach, they should get 4-5 inches on average. This may seem small but yoyo loaches are very fast and powerful for their size. I noticed you have Tahitan Moon Sand in your aquarium. This should never be used with cory cats or loaches as is it can damage their barbels. I suggest you replace it immediately.

Devil's Advocate here...stocking....okay....but do not like the fact that it is a corner tank. Maybe a regular 36 gal rectangle, but you a losing a fair amount of bottom area for the new Yo Yos and surface area for all the fish. Those tanks tend to be taller and I would view that shaped tank more like a 20 for stocking. IMO
