Finally got tired of hauling water for my 10 and 55 gallon tank and went out and bought a python last weekend. Last night, set it up and found that the tubing had a cut in it and was leaking water. My husband took it back to Petsmart and they did not have a 50 foot in stock like I bought but gave me a 25 foot with a store credit to cover the balance since we accidentally threw away the receipt.

Took the new one out tonight and same problem, has a cut in the tubing. Has anyone else had this problem? It is Python or perhaps bad handling on Petsmarts part? I have heard such great things about Python and even Petsmart uses it for their tanks.

sounds like it was a case of bad handling take it back to a different petsmart and see if you can get another one. It sucks but it is worth it when you are able to use it.

sounds like a bad handling issue with improper use of a utility knife to open a box.

Unfortunately we don't have another Petsmart close to go to. Not too many options here in Southern Maryland. I talked to Petsmart on the phone and when my husband takes it back tomorrow, I am going to have them open it in the store and inspect the entire lenght of tubing before it comes home.

yeah sounds like your best bet I would make the hook it up to a water supply if you have too. Good luck usually the third time is a charm.

That was my thought exactly! Some stock employee is going to get in trouble if they realize what happened.

Are you going to the Waldorf store? Oxon Hill is not too far. Also, make sure you print the price page from petsmart.com ($38), they will price match.

Never had it happen to a python, but I do find lots and lots of bags of catfood that have been cut open by utility knives. IMO they need to go over box opening guidelines with their employees on this one.

Or they need to hire employees who actually read things. I used to unpack food shipments at a vet I worked for, and the boxes clearly read in big bright bold lettering that you should not use a utility knife to open them.
