I have a wonderful 21.43 Us Gallon (81.12 Litre) tank with tetras, guppies and two Plecos as well as a large snail.

I did have my tank planted Dutch Style with lots of plants and when I slowly added the fish I had very little die off. The tank was working wonderfully & all the fish and plants were stable. Then I got two snails (one of which is now an empty shell) and the larger snail eat most of my plants. The only plant he did leave behind was a plant that looks like a Parret Feather.

I love my fish and my big huge snail (his shell is about 1.5" accross and his antlers are about an inch long). But I would like to put new plants in my tank again that I know he/she will not think of as a salad bar.

Does any one have any ideas of plants that he will not eat other then the ones I have put in already. Anyone have any ideas? Also does anyone know any Aquatic plant retailers who sell plants over the Internet and will deliver to Canada or are based in Canada (Other then Big Als or the Aquarium Services Warehouse of Markham. http://www.aquariumservices.com/

I forgot I should have mention the lighting and other Systems I have in my tank.

I have a hood with 2 x 40 watts Incendecent bulds in my tanks, to offering very ample lighting.

I am also running a Aquaclear 200 Water filter, a NutraFin Natural Plant System CO2 reactor with a wonderful defuser and a good air supply.

I also to the required weekly tank change and add Cycle every week.

I have been running my tank since about the early November 2003 and I did not start add plants for a 3 weeks and fish for another 2 weeks. It is running stable and all my fish are currently healthy.

Not really a plant answer but I find that if I occasionally float a piece of spinach on the top of the water my snail seems to prefer it over my plants

If you have an Apple snail, he will eat plants. You have a choice, plants or snail.
