hey, I know that I can easily get captive bred fish like clowns, and aquacultured corals aren't too hard to find, but what about inverts? i've found captive bred abalone at liveaquaria.com, do you think I could do one instead of turbos?

The abalone should work, but since it eats exclusivley algae I'm not sure if it eats coraline as well.
Not sure about the conch. You're probably going to have a hard time finding some captive bred inverts.
Peppermint shrimp, almost any coral or soft coral, shroom, polyp, and bta. The abalone eat a lot of red macro's and some hair algae. You don't know which abalone do you? They also get rather large and I'd be concerned that it might rapidly eat it's self out of house and home. Same for the conch, I'd just be concerned about keeping either of them in a 10 gallon.

hthgreen abalone, gets about 3", same for the conch. i'd be giving them supplemental feedings. do you know where I can find captive-bred peppermint shrimp?
I thought that Foster and Smith had them but, I guess that they don't. Sorry, I did a little digging and can't come up with a source. Here is a like that may be helpful I just can't remember where it was done in the states and if they ever had any avail to the public http://www.tmc-ltd.co.uk/hatchery/latest-developments.asp

soooo.... will the abalone and the conch be okay as long as they get fed? i'll continute to try and find myself some captive bred peppermint shrimp....
I know that they have been working on cleaners longer so.... You might have better luck with them and they also will make a nice addition to your tank. The abalone and conch will be fine if you feed them.
