Ok ive change my substrate from crushed coral and seashels to onyx sand... I am glad to report that all fish survived the 100% water change (and everything else).. I am currently waiting for a incandecent light strip replace my fluorescent strip. I am going to then purchase 2 screw in compact fluorescents at 20 watts a piece.. Thanks for all your help...

Freshwater plants grow in fresh water. Brackish plants grow in brackish water.

Your fish survived a 100% water change

I bet that onyx sand looks nice. How do you like it? Got any pics? If you take the pictures I'll host them for you if you want.

Depends on the plant. The fussier ones won't like it much. Go to www.tropica.com and in the plant list on the right, select "Accepts brackish water." That should be a good place to start. It also depends on just how brackish. I would put in any cheap plant and see which ones make it.
