I have a 65 gallon tank with a 3" Angler, I recently put a Blue damsel in there as food and I was wondering if I could have a small school of them, or some other small cheap pretty fish. Any suggestions of species and the number to put in (I don't want too heavy of a bioload)... for blue damsels what's the lowest number they'll start schooling at?

PS- I am assuming damsels school... maybe not?

Most damsels don't school, but as the others pointed out, green or blue chromis (a type of damsel) do. They prefer to be in groups of three or more.

I dont think I would be using Lyretail anthis as a food source for my angler.......kind of expensive.....use the chromis.....or damsels...though they don't school they probably aren't going to be living in there that long anyway.........a fitting end to a devil fish

There aren't any other fish for the damsels to hurt. I guess I will go with the chromis then, when they store gets them in again.

Fwiw, I'd go with ghost shrimp or other feeders. The chromis won't frequent the bottom of the tank enough to make sure that your angler gets enough to eat.
You might also try silver sides or other frozen foods.

i am continuing with ghost shrimp as the staple, damsels/chromis as an ocassional meal I hope. I've tried frozen krill on a feeding stick, he runs away.
