Would I be able to raise the two types of cichlid (Ram cichlid and Kribensis cichlid) frys in the same tank (say a 55G) or would I really need to separate the two types? I was thinking about housing a single pair of Ram cichlids in a 10G in the future (probably in February to April of 2007).

If I'm supposed to raise only the same type of cichlid frys, then How many would I be able to house in a 55G (45G => 48"x13"x18") for them to grow to 1.5" and so that they would start hurting each other as they will be starting to claim their territories?

Thank you very much in advance

The fry should be kept in seperate 5g tanks until they are atleast 1-1.5cm. This is so the fry have a valid chance of surviving the first 45 days and it will be easier to feed them and maintain their tank with 2 5g containers.

After they are 1.5cm you can mix and add them to the 55g as long as there are no fish in there that can eat them. They will continue to grow out until the kribs reach 1" then you will have to watch that there isn't too much fighting going on.

Okay, so I guess I wouldn't be able to combine them from the start... So I might not get the ram cichlids (only when I have a larger grow-out tank for them alone).

Thank you, Mr. Firemouth.
