I am pretty sure I just paid way too much for Clown Loaches. There were only three and they are about ________ this long. $8.99 each. The salesperson said they were 2 inches. I argued the price, but the owner wasn't there, so of course I just went ahead and got them. I am trying to build my family up, I now have 6 loaches. (one of the new ones died overnight).
What is the going rate elsewhere for Loaches?

It is my understanding that pricing is very seasonal. They're much cheaper at certain times of year and more expensive at others. I think it is because they only breed at certain times? ... or maybe because most are wild-caught specimens, which only breed at certain times of year...
Anyway, I have seen them for like $4 each before, but only a certain time of year. Sorry, but I don't remember when...

2" ones go for 9.99$ here but they can be up to 15$(this is canadian) for hte same size. I have seen 3-4" ones for 45$ around here.
prices are seasonal since all the clowns are wild caught. i thin they are cheapest in the fall?

Your loaches certainly didnt measure 2 inches judging by the size of the line you drew.
I think your sales person needs a new measuring tape.
They are however an expensive little fish 6 pounds sterling were i come from.
I got mine for ~$8 (CAD).

You guys think you have it bad... I've never even seen a clown loach before (other than photos)...
Talk about expensive fish, my current order (consisting of a single fish: an African Flag Knifefish) with the LFS is going to set me back almost 80 bucks... but then, I like exotics....

8.99 in the Vancouver area, or 3/25.00.
these are 1.5-2 inches
3-3.5" ones, which I was told were 3 or 4 years old, cost 32$ each or more, from what I've seen.

 Gasp. O.k. I guess $8.99 for this time of year is not too bad.
PBQ-take a drive to the Bluegrass State...come up to Somerset and buy you some Clown Loaches. Nevermind, since I just bought the last ones.

2 and a half inches are 3 for $20 here in Australia, so about $10 for 3 in $US :D
Pretty good I think. :p

The cheapest I can find a 2 inch Clown Loach is $16.99 Chapel Hill, NC
My LFS sells clown loaches, 9 dollars for one, 15 dollars for two, 20 for 3, so roughly around 7 dollars each if you buy at least three.

I think they are around $7.99-$8.99. It makes me mad though because that is a lot. I wish that they were like this big (____) for only $2-$3.

Yes, the price does vary during the year. Not sure why. I would hesitate to buy them that little myself. They can be a bit touchy when they are that small. At least in my experience. We always try to buy them when they are a true 2", but the price would range from $10-15 USD. If it goes over that, forget it, we don't buy it. Our market area, we would have them forever (at a higher price).
