Anything will eat anything as long as it fits in the fish's mouth. A penguin tetra of mine ate blue acara fry before, and a head and tail light tetra chased some tiny feeder guppies around once

Molly fry are definitely fair game for Firemouths...they'll kill guppies out of hunger, and molly fry are small enough to fit in the mouth of almost anything. Bon appetit to your Firemouth, if that's the route you choose!

yeah that was actually the purpose of its purchase. i only paid $1.99 for him(?) and he's pretty small, but i figure he might just be big enough to get the fry in his mouth. guess ill know in a couple of weeks!

Is he then, for culling purposes, or do you plan on feeding all the fry to him?

well, if he eats all the fry then so be it. if he doesnt, thats okay as well. i'd like for him to eat them all because i dont have anyone else interested in them and the lfs doesnt seem too interested either. no shortage of mollys! i recently came into another 55g - had another thread about that in general - but, it's looking like that tank may be a lost cause. i had plans to move him into that after he "cleaned house" for me, but all that seems to have changed. i may have to take him back afterall. i'll be playing it by ear for a week or so and watching the classifieds for used tanks.
