Hi all. First post here.

I've been looking for an african butterfly for some time now and finally found one. I bought it immediately. At the same time, I bought about 20 small crickets because I knew that's what they liked (from researching). I got him home and took about an hour to acclimate, adding tank water to the bag about every 15 minutes. He seemed calm and when I released him to the tank everything seems fine. He just wont eat!

I've tried crickets, red worms, blood worms, plankton, freeze dried brine shrimp, flake and pellets.

He's in a 55 with a clown knife, albino poly, pleco and 3 rainbows. Water temp steady at 76, ph 7.0 (I know they prefer slightly acidic) 0 ammonia, 0 nitrates, 20 nitrates (steady in an old tank). I do 3 water changes a week, so the water is in good shape. All my other fish are super healthy.

Any suggestions getting this guy to eat?

Sorry this was so windy.

African butterflies can take some time to get used to their surroundings. It can take up to a week or more in a new tank before they will start to eat.

Agreed. I also had one of these and it took him a little while to get comfortable. But once he did he ate like very aggressively, especially the frozen bloodworms. I had to throw in some food on the opposite side of the tank so his tank mates would be busy fighting over the food there while i would then put some close to him so he could be sure to get some.
