Thermometer broke! Are little wieghts dangerous?

The mercury or what ever is not broke, but the little wieghts are in the gravel. Is it lead? What should I do?

If the thermometer indicating fluid was red, it is just colored alcohol and won't hurt anything.

I am not sure if the weights are lead or not, but in any case, I have had one break before and it never hurt anything. I just got out what I could and left the rest.

I believe they are made of iron, not lead, so I don't think you'll have a problem. Just like heady said though try to get some out if you can.

try picking them up with a magnet

The magnet will work if they are metal. Try picking them up with chop sticks! Now THAT would be a trick!:p
