Looking for a new pump.
The Mag 36 couldn't do it (designed more for free-flow set-ups; not very good for high back pressure set-ups).
Criteria:
-400 gallon tank with total of four 1" drain/bulkheads drilled directly into top back corners of tank leading to huge sump (w/28 gallons of bioballs).
-Looking for about 2,000 gph at 10' of head (at least, regarding the head height; don't know how much to add for a check valve?).
-Two return lines feed into bottom of tank.
-From pump: 1" pvc pipe splits; one line goes directly to one return jet on tank bottom. One line goes through the U.V. and then to the other return jet on tank bottom. Lots of 90 and 45 degree elbows on both pvc lines.
-Looking for a pump that can handle a lot of back pressure.
-1" in/out fittings on pump.
-Low NOISE.
-Reliability.
-Low Heat transferrence.
Considering the Iwaki MD-100RLT and the Little Giant MDQ 5.5.
Any opinions / experiences? Greatly appreciate any info.
Richard.
