I just got my glass diffuser from a guy off ebay. It's totally blocked. (His feedback suggests that he's a reputable seller). I've tried blowing through it, hooking it up to my DIY CO2 overnight (juice bottle looked about to pop in the morning so I released the pressure), bleaching it for 8 hrs and hooking it up to the DIY CO2 overnight again with no success. I read over at plantedtank.net that someone w/ the same problem used compressed gas to free the blockage after which DIY CO2 was fine w/ it but I don't have access to compressed gas. Should I just leave it on the DIY CO2 and hope I won't have a yeasty mess on the walls ?

Any ideas ? Thanks.

What seller did you get it from? You can contact them and see if they'll replace it.

I got mine from AquaticMagic on eBay. Great diffusers.

have you tried using your air pump to free the blocking?

I've had luck with soaking in hydrogen peroxide over night...nothing special just the medicine cabnet 3% solution stuff.
Good luck.

Some strong acid might work, too.

After 2 days and 2 nights of the diffuser hooked up to my DIY CO2, the rectangular juice bottle looking quite rotund, the pressure finally pushed the blockage free. I now have bubbles ! Thanks all for taking the time to help.

PS. The air pump is not air tight. It wouldn't have worked (already tested on plantedtank.net) since the air will escape elsewhere if the diffuser is blocked.
