I believe that harlequin rasboras fit the bill.

Rummy nosed tetras or Zebra danios are colourfull and very fast moving. And they also look great in a shoal.

are you looking for schooling fish? If then I keep harlequin rasboras, columbian tetras, and cardinals.None of these have ever hid in my tanks(except for when i first added them to my tank).
As for fish to avoid, I would not buy red eyed tetras again.I have 4 and have never seen them out swiming around except at feeding. And i have owned them for 2 years.
Rainbows are very active and talk about color!

Yea, I'm disappointed with the red eyes, they are always still in the top back of the tank and only move when I feed. I would trade them back and get more rummynoses instead, but since I don't feel like doing all that, I won't. I'll look for those harlequin rasboras.

I have a little school of pearl danios, just like zebras but without the stripes... they are all white, but as the name suggests, they are all pearly - so under the right lighting the flash and sparkle all sorts of different colors.
Very pretty IMO :D

Giant Dainos will work if you want a larger fish.

I vote for Harlequins :D
My school looks great!
Is that for the 72 gallon on your web page?
If so, I suggest the following:
Get more rummynoses. Try to keep at leat 10.
Cardinals will school with your neons. 10 Cardinals, with your 10 neons, will make a nice and colourful sight.
Consider Congo tetras. The get a bit bigger than the usual SA tetra and the males are beautiful!
Rainbows will be a good choice for such a big tank too.
And serpae tetras are very underrated.

hi,
tropheus or petrochromis are what you would like to see. Although you may need a bigger tank.

If you find them, Peacock Gudeons are pretty colorful. They're a myriad of iridescent greens, blues, oranges, yellows, and balck. I have a little group of 7 in a 29 gallon and they're always out in a little clump "hovering" over the driftwood at the top of my tank.

I would be careful with serpae tetras, I have one that is absolutely beautiful - but equally as viscious! I have tried schooling him with other serpaes to calm him down, and all he does is kill them, so I gave up trying!
I call him 'The Assassin Fish' :(

Well, I would like to add more rummynoses, but that are expensive at my LFS, about $4 each. Maybe I will bring those red eyes back and see how much they will give me for them, along with maybe some anacharis clippings. I would also like to get some clown loaches. What about lemon tetras? Do they hide or are they more on the active side?

Hey NJ Devil,
I second the idea of Cardinal tetras.. but as you may know they don't always travel well..once they adapt however, they are truly magnificent.
Serpae Tetras are great..but each one seems to get meaner than the last..
so...my suggestion is Rosy tetras..sometimes hard to find but extremely colorful and peaceful
Red Phantoms are great as well, more subtle coloration but very pack oriented and the males do an interesting flare off dance
I also like the white cloud mountain fish.. this fish seems drab in the stores..but with a good diet.. color feeding helps.

Lemon Tetras look good too..! Get some of those Tetra Color Bits for part of their food regimine and that green - almost florescent green color should come out real good. ...Then again, Cardinals are....... :)
Lemons are great. Excellent community fish, like that good neighbour everyone has. The only problem is you don't really notice them, particularly if you have flashier fish such as neons or cardinals in your tank.
Not that they hide - they are just quiet.
Do try to trade your red eyes and some clippings for more rummynoses. It will not only bring more colour to your tank, but also make the ones you have act bolder.
I have no idea of fish prices in the US, but $4 for a rummynose sounds frightfully expensive.
