I'll be going down to the Santa Clarita / Los Angeles area for Christmas this year for a couple of weeks, and I'm wanting to visit a few fish stores while I'm there. I was hoping, it being Los Angeles, that there would be a huge badass fish store with a lot of display tanks.

I'll also be going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey Bay, as well as The Aquarium of the Pacifics.

Not to burst your bubble but I live in Santa Clarita and the LFS are pretty weak. I also am still looking for the killer LFS. Good luck in your hunt and if you find anything make sure to post it.

In the LA area I've found mostly a bunch of mom and pop shops that aren't in the habit of keeping display tanks (I guess it takes up space where products for sale could be).

However, they do bring in rare stuff from time to time. Once you're in town, look for a yellow book and check out the pet section so you can plot which ones you'll hit up.

Darn. I thought with Los Angeles being the huge city it is, they would have a huge fish store somewhere.

Anyone know of any in the surrounding area?

Hahahahaha!! How ironic. I live in N.S, and prolly you'd find your monster LFS in Burnside, near Halifax. Theres a Pets Unlimited there, and it has around 20-25 dogs, 5-10 cats, 50+ reptiles / amphibians, 40+ birds, 75+ rodents, and around (atleast) 300+ species of fish... they even have a display tank lookin atleast 300 gal with displkay fish up to 2' in it. Right now they even are housing a tropical Carribean fish that was found was caught from a school of 3 somewhere between N.S and New Brunswick. Anyway, I don't know if you had wanted something bigger, but all of you peeps better check out this pet store in Iowa, lookin good!! :) :) :)
