Just a quick question about hotdogs and cichlids.

Hot dogs aren't good for humans let alone fish. There full of fats and fillers and slufates which is why they taste good but are not nutritional for a fish. Give your fish some earthworms, shrimp, beef heart and other nutritional foods as a treat.
You asked for advice and there it is. Dont ask people to justify your doing things that may not be in the best intrest of your fish. I doubt it will kill them but it won't be good for them either.
If you're doing it as a cool trick, don't, there's better options.
Once a week I give my O's live food to give them some actvity, and to have a balanced diet. My roommates know it's the coolest thing to watch because usually theres 4 people including myself in front of the tank while I dump in a bag of ghost shrimp, toss in a few crickets, and soon, I'll be trying out dwarf frogs (I should post pictures of that on an ADF site lol)

oh btw, hot dogs will leave a nasty protein film on the waters surface, so although it wont kill your fish, it's just a PITA and makes your tank look like crap.
