Hi all, new to AC here with a question: Does anybody have much experience with leporinus fasciatus?

The reason I ask is that I have one that I've had for almost a year and a half, and it has grown a lot and is very active, easy to care for and eats just about anything it can catch.

The only problem I've found is that the sucker seems to like to be the big man on the block. Just recently it has killed a shovelnose cat :( (about 6") and a tinfoil barb that was also about 6" that I had raised from about half an inch .

Anybody else had any similar experiences?

Sounds normal in my experience. If another fish even shows a hint of weakness, they don't let it live long. We keep ours (in the store) in with some medium sized oscars and they don't do too bad.

There are 2 commonly sold species of Leporinus. One has 10 stripes and the other has only 9. The 10 stripe species has a reputation for being more aggressive. I own 4 of the 9 stripe species in a 125 gallon and I have had no problems out of them. *knock on wood*
