Intake on powerhead

I recently converted my UGF to RUGF. I used to use two 802s, but now I have two Penguin 1140s with the reverse flow pre-filter kit. I left one of the 802s in the tank to create some extra surface agitation (I also have a bubble wand). The problem is that the 802's intake keeps sucking up pieces of plants or the blanched veggies I feed the fish. The larger pieces clog the intake.

Does anyone know of something that will fit on the 802's intake and prevent clogging?

Is there any way to lower the intakes?

Try a FilterMax III. They have quite a nice assotment of adapters in the package with the sponge prefilter.

I get the largest aquaclear power filter foam and cut it to size for the intake on all of my power heads and both my magnums 350s . It works very good at keeping all the large stuff out of the units .
