The first two pictures are of the same fish, it's from a display tank at Big Al's. Anyone know what fish this is???
The third picture is a juvenile available to buy. Do you think this is the same fish as above? If not, do you know what fish this is???
thanks!
Pseudotropheus msobo is first choice. Pseudotropheus elongatus is the second choice for the frist two pics.
the third is a different fish. Different than the first fish. It has been debated as to be Socolofi.
Well I'll tell you what the labels at the store were.
The juvenile is apparently a "labidochromis zebroides"
and the guy at the store said that the fish in pic#1+2 is "a kenyi"
I just wasn't sure if he was correct.
the juvenile is definitely not a socolofi....I've already got those. The difference seems to be a very yellow tail. The fish in pic#1+2 had a bright yellow tail as well (didn't show up very much in the pictures) that's why I thought they might be the same fish!
Ideally, I want to buy a fish that will grow to look like the fish in pic#1+2.
Multiple Species Fish Custodian
Pics 1 & 2 do look like the Kenyi Cichlid (Pseudotropheus lombardoi)
Kenyi Cichlid Pics .
Ice Blue Labidochromis (Labidochromis zebroides)
Ice Blue Cichlid Pic 3 doesn't look right, but it may be young still.
Possibly Pseudotropheus sp. "elongatus mpanga", check
Cichlid Photo Gallery
Pseudotropheus elongatus
Elongatus Pic looks a little too light to be it
Just my guesses, I would say pic 3 is different from pic 1& 2, If you like them check out some of the other Pseudotropheus species...WOW
ahh yah finally found it ..
Pseudotropheus demasoni
looks identical to me.. except the yellow on the tail..
close enough!!
bahh now im down to the elongatus.. they all look damn similar as well.. looks closer.. has the yellow in the fin.. hmmm..

"Elongatus Mpanga" looks exactly like the big guy we saw in the store Jinks !!
(pic 1+2)
Although "Elongatus Mbamba" looks very similar as well.
Anyone know what the significant difference between these two pseudotropheus are???
I want some!! now!!
Are they compatible with socolofis and saulosis??
