After looking around the web, I have found a Glass Anemone living on my powerhead sponge filter.

I've searched all around my tank to find others and nothing. I've noticed it grow slightly in the weeks since I spotted it.

Vote yes to taking out the whole powerhead and throwing it in fresh water?
Maybe boiling hot freshwater.

that sounds like a plan.

Some people state that freshwater won't kill them. Boiling water should, though. However, squirting them (possibly more than once) with something that has an extreme set of parameters (such as kalk. or what I used, reef carbonate) will kill them.

Buy a new sponge filter for the powerhead...That way there is not 2nd chance. :)

I've always just used lemmon juice. At worst it will convert a little of your buffer to co2. You can just add some more buffer after the process if it's gets you ph out of whack ,"it shouldn't doesn't take much." Their reaction is most excellent they just melt away.
