Would I be able to convert my evctra fluval into a refugium. I mean I can put a light somehow in their. It is mainly for copepods, do they even need light? It is pretty tall so I was just thinking about taking all of the media and just adding a coral sand bed some pods that I have growing in a seperate 5 gallon and some cheto? Let me know, would it hurt?

how would you add the light for the cheat??
the only way youd be able to do that is to have to top open, and to do that youd have to put the water level of the canaster equal to the water level of your tank.

I just don't think its possible. Cheto needs low amount of light and so does LRs. How are going to accomplish this?

The pods can care less if they have light or not. If you want to put live rock rubble in there for extra filtration the bacteria can also care less if there is any light or not. You will still get critters like sea squirts, sponges and etc with out the lights lots of them can also care less. I know it's possible to put a light in a cannister but, how is beyond me I'll move this to marine diy to maybe get you an answer ,"I might be dreaming about the light part."
cheers
