I came home from work and found out that the filter on my 55g was clogged and therefore not running at all. I unclogged it and found that all 14 cardinals and both angels now have Ick. Like I said above, what treatments can I do without hurting my plants. I have Java fern, crypt. wentii red and green, amazon swords, and wisteria.

For now I have been raising the temp on the tank and used some treatment with formalin and malachite green. I know that the salt treatment would not work since I have plants in the tank. But I do know that Ick cycles faster in higher temps and can possibly die off.:help:

Be careful with the heat and medications. If the medication doesn't advise to raise the temperature in the tank, I wouldn't do it. Some ich medications become extremely toxic at certain temperatures.

I used the salt/heat treatment in a planted tank with success. The only plant to suffer was the crypt - it melted, but as soon as I finished the treatment (21 days) it bounced right back like nothing ever happened.
