I was going to order 2x96W kit which only has 1 reflector but can ask for two 4" reflectors instead of one 7" reflector. It seems like 2 reflectors, 1 bulb each, would yield more light or at least, lessen the wastage of light shining onto the adjacent bulb, no ? I'm putting these under a wooden hood so space is no issue.

Should I do:
1. 2x96w kit or
2. 2x96w kit & ask for 2 reflectors or
3. two 1x96w kit (separate on/off control is nice but not essential)

Also, do I need to have glass/acryllic protection between bulb and water ?

Thanks.

With the single reflector, you're stuck with the bulbs side by side, with two, you can space them out wherever you'd like. There may be a time you want to put a light over a certain area of the tank to highlight something.
Two seperate on/off switches is more flexible than one...I like flexibility, but the call is yours.

Some use glass, some don't. I do.
