I just added a new light, 130watts florscent. I had added some Zoa's about two months ago and did not have enough light and they bleached and died, I thought. After adding the lights, I moved them into the direct light and it looks like they may be alive. The stems are turning a deeper brown and it looks like the tops are opening a little. I do not see the color in the middle that was there when I got them but they are looking darker. COuld it be that they really are alive and are recovering? Is there a way to find out? When I picked them up to move them the stems were still soft when I touched them.

Any info would be appreciated.

if given proper water then they shoudl come back. it seems that they like where they are now so i woudl leave them there.
it may take some time for them to regain color, but if they are starting to open it is a good chance that they will make it

Any ideas on how long it takes for them to come back? I've moved them closer to the top of the tank to get the most light. Just curious about how long.

this is another one of the things in the hobby that you really cant estimate. it it happens, there are many variables that will determin the time such as qater quality, light, availible trace elements, why it was shocked in teh first place. ect. ect. ect. ect.

I agree I found a shroom hitchhicker ,"I guess it was a hitchicker anyway" last week and I haven't bought any live rock in years.
