I have been doing some research on the internet regarding cichlids; however the information is rather limited. Can anyone suggest a good book that will profile various cichilid species and give some detailed specifics on their care?

Which sort of Cichlids?

C/A:
"The Guide to Owning Central American Cichlids," Dick Stratton

"Cichlids of North and Central America," Donald Conkel

Oscars:

"The Guide to Owning Oscars," Stratton

"Oscars," Neal Pronek

Tanganyikans:

"The Tanganyikan Cichlid Aquarium," Georg Zurlo

"Lake Tanganyikan Cichlids," Mark Phillip Smith

Malawians:

"Lake Malawi Cichlids," Mark Phillip Smith

Both Rift Lakes:

"Cichlids from Lakes Malawi and Tanganyika," Sabine Melke *EXCELLENT!!!*

Cichlids, in general:

"The Cichlid: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Fish," Mary Ellen Sweeney

"Tetra's Popular Guide to Tropical Cichlids," Paul Loiselle

"Cichlids," Zurlo

Note that I have only suggested books which I personally own, because I cannot, in good conscience, suggest ones which I haven't bought or would never buy.

And my mind is shot. I forgot one:

"Lake Victoria Basin Cichlids," Mark Phillip Smith

All of Chil's were very good ones. Also, if you can afford, The Cichlids and all other fishes of Lake Malawi is the greatest book on Malawians. It's by Ad Konnigs, great man. Also, The Cichlid Fishes by Barlow is a really good one on the evolutionary history of cichlids. *Useless fact* Julidochromis marlieri are one of the few fishes that relish freshwater sponges. Kraaaaazy. Oh, and any of the Aqualogs are thin on info but great for identifying.
