There is a mom and pop place a town over from me that doesn't, but every other pet shop I've ever been to does sell plants.

They might all sell plants but IME few lfs feature nice plants and have any expertise to offer. Of the 6+ lfs in my area there is only one who offers a nice group of plants. They actually have planted tanks on display and know what they are doing. The other stores may have some brown moneywort, or wasted away potted plants, but the roots are smushy and they look terrible... i.e. dead and forgot to fall over.

Sometimes even the good ones you might end up haveing to shop them ten diff weeks to find what you want.

Trust me, they don't all sell plants. The one the next town over does not. Because the statement extends to every LFS out there, finding but one counterexample is sufficient to state that the hypothesis is false.

Most stores can have the option to get plants, it is up to them if they want to carry them. Your best deal is to actually call the store ahead of time and ask if they are carrying any plants. Stores that do carry plants may not have them by the time you get there, some places tend to sell out fast. But very few stores get a nice wide selection of plants. I agree with somefinnfishy and you will have to shop around for a long period of time before you get what you want.
But also remember to keep good healthy plants, have the proper lighting and add CO2 to your water. And your plants will grow like crazy. :)
There are a few places online that you can order Plants that I hear are decent. I personally have not ordered from this online shop. I hear this one is very good and the plants are very nice from others on this Board.
