heya guys,
sorry to bother you, though i was wondering, if you were to set up a planted aquarium and size width wise wasnt a prob, would you get a 5 x 2 x 2 or a 5 x 2.5 (wide) x 2. jw cos im getting a 5 ft planted tank. filtration eheim 2260, fluorite substrate, pressurised co2 etc. yeah so jw what you would do, would you get the x 2 or the x 2.5? price is a factor and im getting a cabinet for it as well
thanx agian

Well, since price is a factor, I would choose the 5x2x2. I only say this if the price difference is a lot. If it is not, bigger is always better IMO. I believe you would be more than happy with a 2 foot width tank.

I'd get a tank that was 4 feet long because most flourescent shop lights are 4 feet long. Makes buying lighting much easier. I'd also rather have the 2.5' wide tank, though 2' gives you some room to work with. Planting a tank that big is going to be quite expensive after you buy substrate, pressurized CO2, filters and all the plants & fish. Done right it'll be very cool though.

i would go "deep" over "high" any time. i'm such a sucker for deep tanks. depth is everything, imho.

How long are your arms? (Just something to keep in mind — they do make extra long snips and tweezers).

2' is mighty deep. Could you go longer for the price of the 2.5'? I'd rather have something more like 6' x 2' x 2'. You're at a similar volume either way (and lights are very doable either way…)
