Are there any kind of cichlids that could live ina ten gallon?

Maybe an Oscar or a Jack Dempsey. Just make sure you "overfilter" and change the water @ 50% weekly. Just kidding.
You could fit a few African shell dwellers or possibly a ram or two. They stay small and a 10 gallon would look nice with a South American planted theme. Do your research, as cichlids of all sizes tend to be sensitive to various water parameters and setups.

Go with Apistos. Like my avatar. Real colorful species of fish and will do very well in a 10g.
