I just purchased 105 lbs. of flourite to use as the substrate for my 100g, soon to be planted aquarium. In introducing the flourite to the aquarium, do I treat it as any other substrate? Does it need to be thoroughly washed or will that wash the nutrients away?

i would wash it, to ensure that you are not introducing milions or dust specs into the water, though it could be considered for aethsteics only..
You should wash it to get all the dust out.

Anyways yes rinse it to the best of your ability before it goes into the aquarium and expect that it will probably cloud things up.

I eventually gave up on trying to completely clean mine. I think it was washing the Flourite away.
I rinsed the same bucket maybe 10 times and it was cloudy every time. I could clean up sand rinsing only 3 times.
I put it in, it clouded and cleared with in a matter of hours. It hasnt been cloudy from the flourite since.

It's really easy to wash Flourite and not have a dust problem. In the substrate section of my Guide I outline the method I have used many times in the past. Works like a champ to get rid of the dust.
