I keep reading threads where others recommend using a red light to view all of the night critters.

What can be used- red LEDs? What can you use to put in front of a flashlight and where would I get it?

Thanks.

I got these very thin red plastic films at Walmart. 10 sheets for like 50 cents or something. I found it in the stationery section. I'm not sure what it's exactly used for but i think the cover said "all purpose crafts" or or something like that. And I wrapped these around a cheap flashlight I have.

I found my red-lensed flashlight at Walmart in the fishing section.

Me too, although I originally bought mine for work, which had me outside at night. It's a headlamp with three different settings -- a white LED, red LED, and regular white bulb.

Thanks everyone. I will check in Walmart in the sporting/fishing department and stationery section. If I can't find any there, I'll go to the craft store next door.

I used to work with theater lighting/audio, but am not close enough now for it to be practical. Great idea though.

my aquarium lights are red. does this mean the fish won't be spooked when i turn it on?

????
why'd you do that?

Hehe. I bet that's colorful. You mean you've never used them before, or you don't have fish in there yet? You mean like these? (eBay link)
