I'm going to PetSmart tomorrow to buy a new heater and filter for my tank. It's a well established 29-gallon tank containing the fish in my signature.

I'm going to get a Visi-Therm Stealth heater. The coldest my house gets is about 67. Should I go with 100w or 150w? Also, I plan to get a Penguin BioWheel filter. Should I go with the 200 or the 350?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

i have the 100w stealth on my 29g with no probs but the 150w wouldnt hurt at all. i have 2 200 penguins on mine, 1 doesnt seem enough so i say go with the 350- even better the emperor 400.

I have a 26g and use both the Stealth 100 and the Biowheel 200. I think one BW 200 is fine for filter use. My tank and water look really clean. As for the heater, I think the 100 is fine for regular weather use but due to the cold weather I had to purchase a second 50 watt heater to get the tank above 70. My house temps run in the low 60s though. I'd just get the 150 to be on the safe side.

Make sure to print out the prices from the Petsmart online website. Petsmart will price match and the prices online and considerably less than in the store.

I'm running a Stealth 100 watter and 2X Penguin 200's on my 29.

Works; the heat in my house has been flaky recently, got down to 55 the other day, but temp in tank was steady at 79.4-almost stuck my hands in the tank to warm up!

But having said that, the difference in the price with PetSmarts price match is very close, so go with the 150...

As for filters, I believe that too much is almost enough and two gives redundancy it case one goes **** up...

Well, according to the chart I have laying around the stealth 100 watt is rated to keep a 30g aquarium at up to 18f above ambient temperature. So 67f pluse 18f gives us 85f. I think the 100 should be able to handle your needs.

Well, I didnt get out to PetSmart because I had too much going on, so I placed an order online. I ordered the Penguin 350B filter and the 100w heater (no 150w available online). I can't wait to get them in and get them set up and running!

in my 29g i have a 100w heater, my room temperature maintains a fairly consistent 69-70 F.
tank temperature 79F, heater doesnt turn on too often.
although 100w is adequate IMO, ide still go for the 150w considering the price diff between the 2 is usually only a couple bucks depending on the brand.
