I'm getting more and more frustrated with my Oscar everyday! He keeps ramming into my air hose that's connected to the air bubbler, until it comes unhooked. If I don't fix it, then the bubbles are so noisy, it drives me crazy! What can I do? Please help!

The only suggestion I have would be to either partition the tank or to put something akin to a heater guard around the air hose.
If you have good, strong filtration in the form of a canister filter or an HOB, you don't need to have an airstone or something of that nature.

I have an 85 gallon tank with 2- AC500 filters. There's plenty of water movement, but I really like the look of the air curtain.

How do I keep my Oscar from undoing my air hose?
...hide his tools! :D :p :D
...or you could try a little silicone to keep the hose connected.

Actually, I think I'm going to try a 36-inch air curtain. Does anyone use them? Do you think they would stay attached any better? What I use now uses mini-tubing. I hate it! You can barely connect it. It says the air curtain uses standard tubing (3/16). I'm hoping that will stay connected better.
Thanks for your help!:)

I have an air curtain a little alrger than 36 inches, and my oscar used to tear it off all the time. Do you bury your airstone? Do you use suction cups to suction the hose to the back of the tank?
Just curious :D
But even if this doesnt work, siliconing or gluing ( make sure its safe ) is probably the best way to go with your little trouble maker.

My air bubblers are not covered up by rock. They are just suction cupped to the back of the tank. I have green mini-tubing with plants on each end. My oscar kept pushing the plants all the way up to the top, so I took the plants off. He still messes with it. Can you cover up the air curtain? If you can, I think I'll take your advice and hide it in the rocks, as well as silicone the air hoses to it before I put it in the tank.
Thanks for the info! I appreciate it!

Yea! Burying air curtains, I think, makes the air bubbles floating up look great. I love the view of the air curtain in the background of my tank. My oscar tore my tank apart when I was gone for 2 weeks, but the air curtain remained intact...I bury mine completely to the bottom of all the gravel

Well, we fixed it! My husband heated up the little air tube enought to expand it so it would go all the way over the connector to the air bubblers. After he did that, he got a couple of mini zip ties and cinched them up really tight over the tube. Since then, we haven't had a bit of trouble! Who would have thought?!?
As for the air curtain, I'm going to take your advice on that, Allison. I'm going to get the 36 inch curtain and completely cover it up with rocks. These air bubblers that I have now are such a pain. I have 6 of them connected all the way across my tank. If one gets bumped, you have to fix them all. I hate them.
Thanks for your help, everyone!
