I got this fish but I don't know what it is.
I have a ropefish so I know it is not that.

It is approx. 5 inches long and it looks kinda like an eel/snake and it has finned spikes all down it's back. (i don't know the annatomy of a fish very well so bear with me) It looks like it uses it's front fins kindof like arms to move slowly on the rocks and to rest on.
I would take a picture but I don't have a digital camera.
Any help would be great!
Thanx:D

Google "Bichirs" and tell me if those are one and the same.

From the finned spikes down the back, it could be a Violet Goby.

Here's a link: Violet Goby (http://www.aquariacentral.com/species/db2.cgi?db=fresh&uid=default&ID=0488&picture6_page_view=1)

Similar to this fsh? There are several bichir species available, so if the morphology is correct, google for bichirs and I'm sure you'll come up with the right fish.

Edit: Okay, so I am slow, but I was getting a link!
