Okay, someone explain the pancake thing to me, I'm lost...
If you're talking about Fat Tuesday (I thought it was Feb 28 this year??), I know about that, but I've never heard of eating pancakes this day....at home we eat jelly filled Polish-style donuts called Paczkis on Fat Tesday....so help me out here, I'm floundering.

Back in the old days, one fasted during Lent. So on the day before Ash Wednesday, (Fat Tuesday) the wives would cook up everything in the house; pancakes were a good way of getting rid of the flour-bread would last too long; might have some left after Lent started!

It is Shrove Tuesday today! Go get your pancake mixes, and start your racing!
Historically, Shrove Tuesday used to be a great day for cock-fighting in England, although obviously not now.

I wish I knew about this before work today. I work at a nursing home and I went downstairs to run outside for a smoke. What I encountered instead was the activities staff and 20 of my patients, who forced me into a wheelchair, tied one arm and one leg to the chair, gave me blacked out oversized sunglasses and a paddle.. They then informed me that I had to race another employee down the hall 4 times with pancakes (the size of planets) using only one foot and not being able to see..
Weirdos.

when people eat alot of food, I think its to prepare to fast, not completly sure, I just knwo u get pancakes out of it...

fasting is when you dont eat, some religions its to show you arent attached to material things, other have to do with recreating something
