Hello,
I just bought a used 55 gallon hexagon aquarium. It came with some small pieces of driftwood and some small rocks. Nothing to impressive or attractive considering the height of the aquarium. Does anyone have any ideas on furnishing it. It will house a tiger oscar, jeweled cichlid, and a red finned blue botia. The jeweled chichlid is very aggressive and takes pride in fighting with the botia who hides almost all day, so there needs to be hiding places. The cichlid also picks fights with my oscar who, although an inch or two bigger, is not as crafty. I was also wondering if it would be ok to maybe buy an albino tiger oscar. I'm not sure if I'll have room in there or not. My lfs sells oscars that are about the same size as my oscar now so there won't be a mismatch. What does everyone think?

No, it would not be okay. Your Oscar will grow to be too large for a 55 hex tank, so you'll want a different tank for him. If you get one large enough, you could put another Oscar and him in the same tank, but your 55 will quickly be maxed out.

I think you need a 4 foot tank before you put even one Oscar in it. If it lives long enough, the fish will grow to over 1 foot in length. Should it just swim up and down all day?
