    I'm back...my new nano!

No doubt, always learning! That's the beauty of aquaria...it never fails to blow your mind. I can stare into my little tank for hours and still be amazed. This site has been a huge part of my education, and I still have tons to learn. I hate to admit that I probably spent more time...

    I'm back...my new nano!

Thanks Hooked, I think you're past the newbie status, but I don't think being hooked ever goes away! It's snowing!!!! It's been at least 5 years. My Husky is apparently much more of a beach dog and isn't sure about the snow!

    I'm back...my new nano!

Hey Bel :welcome:! Thanks for checking out my tank. I got a great deal for the tank, and some friends donated live rock, sand and some corals. Even still I have about $300 in this tank, which is amazing considering it's only a 12g. I still have another hundred or two to go before I'll feel...

    I'm back...my new nano!

Thanks for looking! I think a Tail Spot Blenny is pretty much for sure. They are pretty fish and seem to be a suitable size for a 12g, and blennies usually have lots of personality. I'll probably pair the blenny with either a Rainford's, Hector's, or Greenbanded Goby. I think these fish...

    I'm back...my new nano!

I'm not going to add anything else for at least 3-4 weeks. I've been doing a lot of research into suitable fish, and have a few ideas. I think I would like to eventually have 2 small fish in this tank. Here are a few thoughts: -Rainford's or Hectors Goby (almost defintely one of these 2)...

    I'm back...my new nano!

This is the tank today, about 3 weeks old now. The Green Hairy Mushroom split into 2, and a bunch of tiny GSP have sprouted on the same rock. The larger GSP rocks came from my friend's reef tank. There are 2 smaller blue/ purple mushrooms, but my camera kinda sucks and they are too small.

    I'm back...my new nano!

I was in the hobby for several years and ranged from 20g up to a 37g, but could never get a setup that I was really happy with. After a year off, I am back with a different approach. I got a 12g Nano Cube, about 15 lbs of LR, live sand, Green Star Polyps, several different mushrooms, and lots...

    Semi-Aggressive Reef Log

I have always really liked the angels, and am keeping my fingers crossed as well. I know that some corals are more likely than others to be nipped at, so I guess I will just have to add them on a "trial by error" basis. I really like the googly eyed piture too! It is very true to the...

    Semi-Aggressive Reef Log

The LFS that I got the hairy shrooms from kept them under a metal halide, and they were very bleached when I got them. They are starting to get a little green color back, but they are still pretty bleached. I wish my camera would capture the colors a little better. The Monti Cap is a vivid...

    Semi-Aggressive Reef Log

Thank you, this set up has evolved a lot since its begining as a 20g with some damsels and one chunk of LR. I am really pleased with the direction the setup has taken, and am pumped to be on my way to having a reef.

    Mushroom Reproduction questions

I have a large Red Mushroom that has recently started to move along the rock it is anchored on. It has revealed several new mushrooms under its cap. Ever since it moved a little it has only opened about half way, and it seems to be avoiding the new little shrooms. My question is are the...

    Semi-Aggressive Reef Log

A few changes: I swapped out the white daylight bulb for a Smartpaq 50/50 bulb, which I am running along with the pure Actinic. The 50/50 bulb gives the tank a much smoother blue, and I think that it promotes the bright green coraline that I kind of like. The corals seem to like the light...

    Semi-Aggressive Reef Log

It's been a while since I have updated this, but not much has changed. The finger coral (I think it was Kenya Tree) was being attacked by the Angel, so I swapped it out for some Hairy Mushrooms. The fish don't seem to bother the mushrooms or montipora. I hope to add some green star polyps in...

North Carolina Aquarium Visit ** SEVERE LOAD WARNING **

I live in Wilmington, only about 20 minutes away from Fort Fisher. I have been to the aquarium a few times and am very pleased with the renovations they have done. Interesting tid bit: lionfish, in no way endemic to NC, are now well established just offshore, and may pose a threat to other...

    Tall tanks ok for SW

5xevy: I picked the tank up, a few hours away. I watched a 75g drilled reef tank go for $126, only 30 min away from where I live. I tried to bid on it, but hadn't registered a Paypal account. After registering I missed the auction by like 10 sec. Bummer, but still love the tank I got.

    Tall tanks ok for SW

I have a 37g tall reef tank, and everything is all good. I got this setup for $125, including retrofit PC lights and custom canopy. I got it off e-bay, and would expect to pay a lot more through a pet store.

Silicone to Attach Coral to LR?

I got a tube of the liquid Super Glue, and it worked great. I patted a piece of LR dry with a paper towel, poured on a little glue, and attached the Coral. It all only took about 20 sec.

Silicone to Attach Coral to LR?

I have a tube of Krazy Glue. Is this the same as Super Glue, and also reef safe?

Silicone to Attach Coral to LR?

Thanks for the warning. I'll go for super glue. Just the original, regular old super glue?

Silicone to Attach Coral to LR?

I have a Montipora frag, and it keeps getting knocked of its perch by my CUC. Can I use All Glass Aquarium brand Silicone to adhere it to a rock? The stuff says it's saltwater safe.
