I have 3 clown loaches and one of them has both eyes that are white. I'm not sure if it's a fungus because it doesn't look like cotton. They're perfectly round, but white. I'm sure he's blind too.
I've been trying to get a pic but he keeps hiding at the back of the tank. He still moves...
I have a 47 gallon planted tank with BGA. I know the best way to erradicate this is to black out the tank and not to feed for 4 days.
However, I have 2 jewel cichlids with 9 babies. They're growing and now about 1-2 cm long and I can't starve them for 4 days.
Is there another way to get...
I have a 55 gallon planted tank with no CO2. I don't use any fertilizers on it and the plants grow fine.
I keep the lights on for 10 hours.
I know I overfeed because I have babies and have to feed them frequently. I'm trying to cut down on that.
I have this algae that's dark green and...
Congrats! I had a batch too and only 10 survived. They're growing nicely and getting big. They're about 1/4" or a bit more now. She did lay another batch but I think the first babies ate them.
Well I'm watching them grow and it's fascinating! Yesterday I found another mound of eggs.........I was like "Wholy Crap"! They're gone off the rock so I think she's holding them in her mouth. I think there's about 10 from the first batch and they're growning nicely. I blew my light tonight...
Well I'm feeding them frozen brine shrimp and crushed flakes. They're doing well (what's left). I think I have about 10-15. They still spend a lot of time on the bottom of the tank. It's fun watching them grow!
I have a pair of jewel cichlids that I just got about 2 weeks ago. They spawned and there were eggs all over the drift wood. After a few days I noticed the eggs were gone so I thought they were bad or whatever. After another few days I noticed hundreds of baby fish (not sure if they're called...
I bought 2 neon blue jewel cichlids a week ago. Didn't know they were a pair, but they just spawned. The obviously like their new home. I've never owned these fish before. Any suggestions on what to do when they hatch? Are the parents likely to eat them? They're the only ones in a 47...
My kids have always owned rats. They are gorgeous pets. Ours unfortunately seemed to get cancer. We'd have the tumors removed (by the vet) but then they'd come back so eventually we had to put them down. People thought we were nuts to put down a rat, but they were the sweetest most gentle...
I have a 47 gallon tall tank that is heavily planted with some kind of grassy plant. I've had a lot of problems with algae and it's a lot of maintenance so I was going to get rid of the tank. I have another in the basement and didn't have the time to keep up with them both.
I've had the tank...
When I checked the params, my ammonia was .25. I removed all the wood to see if I could find the dead bristlenose but didn't. I'm thinking he got eaten and maybe he was the reason for the ammonia? Anyway, I'm upping my water changes to every second day instead of every day and still doing 50%.
I'll have to see if I can get some pics. I currently have 6 discuses ranging in size from 2.5 - 3.5. I think I've been keeping them for about 2 years.
I've started feeding them twice a day so I'll see how that goes. They're an expensive fish to be learning my mistakes from....:)
I have a pair of marble angelfish that have spawned 3 times. I'm learing each time. I get them hatched and swimming but quickly lose them.
I feed them frozen baby brine shrimp and I'm wondering if it has to be fresh? I don't know where to get them.
Is frozen just as good?
OK I've decided not to medicate. I have 2 things I'm wonder about.
#1. I had 3 bristlenose plecos and now I can only find 2. I've moved everything and can't seem to find him. I don't know if he got eaten or what.
#2. I only feed my discuses once a day. I'm wondering if that would...
I do a 50% water change every 3 days. That's why I'm thinking I should medicate......since I've already lost 2 fish. I don't remember seeing any fin rot on them though.
I'm just afraid that if I wait on it, then I'll lose more fish.
I also have 3 clown loaches, 2 bristlenose plecos and...
I have a 110 gallon planted tank with 6 discus. One of the discus's fins are frayed. I'm assuming I have fin rot. The rest look OK.
I just got back from a trip and had someone clean the tank twice while I was away (went for a week). He said 2 of the discuses died.
I went to the LFS...
