I had the same thing happen with the same tank last week!!! The seals wore out on the tank. Water all over my floor. I was also able to save my fish. LFS gave me 40 bucks credit for the tank and stand. I think he is gonna use it for reptiles. It only leaks when the tank is full and leaks out...
Might be Hexamita or Hole in the Head disease. You should definitely put the fish in QT. Try treating it with metronidazole. That stuff treats a wide variety of parasites and other conditions in fish.
It may look that way but that is not always the case. 2 is a bad number. You need 5 or more for your discus to feel secure. I had one Discus in a 55 gallon that was eating out of my hand and appeared to be doing really well. I added 4 more today and now its stripes are showing up on its body...
As bad as that fish looked at the beginning of this thread it is amazing you were able to keep it alive. Great job!!! Keep up the good work!
I will also keep your grandmother in my prayers...
That happened to me a few months ago. Now I always keep my heater in the center of the tank close to the bottom so that it stays submerged during water changes. That way I dont have to unplug it. Most glass heaters have a line at the top saying its safe to let the water line hit but I dont trust...
Cottony stuff would be a fungal infection. Whit spots that look like salt on your fish would be ich. Sounds like your on the right track as far as treatment goes. Crank the heat up. If its ich Quick Cure is another good med.
With the temp in the 80's you should keep the air stone in there. Heat takes oxygen out of the water. Rams prefer warmer water so it sounds like you are doing everything right! Glad to hear they are looking better!
Nice thought! We're getting more snow tomorrow! We haven't had a snow season like this since I moved to Virginia in 88. I'm all for Spring coming. It cant come fast enough!!!
Just a regular GBR. I did go to LFS today and they had some sick baloon rams. They were as big as the Bolivian Rams in the tank and the color was unlike anything I have ever seen! I'm debating on getting a few. I will take some pics next time i'm in there and post them for you...
With them being as small as they are you could put a few more in there. Just keep up with the water changes. I was warned in the past about numbers and added a new Discus to a tank with just one other Discus. The Discus chased the new Discus to the point it stressed it to death! Discus are...
Its not so much the hormone as it is the fact that they require really clean water! I figured with it being new and where you got it from it was just adjusting to all of the moves. 2 is a really bad number with new Discus. You may want to try to get the number up to 5 or more to help spread the...
