Tyler79Durdan's "AC 40" new (to me) tank build thread. 56K pic warning!

You did a great job cleaning up that tank! Did you use vinegar or something else?

What are the dimensions on that tank?

75/25 water/vinegar

48 1/4" x12 3/4" x16 7/8"

I did my tempered glass test ...

I got a full black screen on the bottom pane :). I am even happier now, and more excited to get the drill. Coming soon to an forum near you:)

Well, I guess its coming along faster than anticipated...

Should have the filter tomorrow :)

Those are 3/4 thread x thread bulkheads, so a few pvc fittings and the overflow wall...

Gotta remember to get PFS!

Thats it for now!

Mock up and trim scape

Time to start trimming the scape base, and mocking it up in the tank. This should look decent with sand.

Dont know if you have ever seen the DIY aquarium background on youtube, but thats the inspiration for this scaping. Still gotta Quikcrete the styro though...

That's a neat idea on the overflow, surface and deep water filtration.

I'm no sump/wet/dry filter expert but in all my experimenting none of the stand pipes seem to work the way you want them and only the herbie method is thing i have found to give you a truly quiet sump. but you might not care about that.

Looks great either way! Keep posting the pictures.

Edit: Also where you at in Michigan?
