Hi all, I've been a member of AC since 2003. Always had freshwater tanks. Back in February I got a new tank for the freshwater fish so I decided to use my old 29 gallon tank as my first saltwater tank. It has been up and running since February. I cycled the tank with live rock and a fresh shrimp, man did that smell... lol.
I started to read the thread by Greech and that inspired me to give this a try...
I have the following:
29 gallon tank
10 gallon sump using Eshopps 300 gph overflow
Lifegard 500 gph pump
30 pounds of live rock
30 pounds of play sand - non silicate
10 pounds of Carib live sand
Whisper 40 HOB filter
2 standard lights, one with a 10000k bulb and another with a 420 actinic, 36 watts total
1 Penguin 660 power head
2 Pajama Cardinals
2 Clowns
1 6 line Wrasse
1 Coral Beauty Angel that I got yesterday
Thank parameters are
0 Ammonia
0 Nitrites
5.0 Nitrate
So far I have gotten some diatoms, but not too much.
