I have been working on my 75 gallon SW and 1 of the things I needed to do was to move my 20 gallon into my bedroom to make room for the SW.

I got 3, 5 gallon buckets and in 1 I put my 6 blackskirt tetras and 4 zebra danios. And in the other bucket I put my electric blue crayfish and his PVC home. And the final bucket contained water and a medium sized rock. There was about 3 gallons left in the tank plus the aragonite sand.

It only weighed about 60 pounds or so, but I felt that it would be easier to get my dad to help me. So we put it on a chair for a few minutes while I brought in the stand. Once that was in we put the tank on the stand and filled it with water (and fish) The whole operation took about 20 minutes.

This is what it looks like now: ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1345421877.298348.jpg

Later on when there is more clarity I will move the stuff around, but I don't want to risk it now with my crayfish...

Can somebody explain to me what the GIANT arm like thing is? It doesn't look like my 1" inch mysteries...

Now that is a size I believe. The "proof is in the pudding".

The giant arm thing is how it breathes. Mystery snails breath atmospheric oxygen, so they go near the surface, stick up that tube and take a breath of air every so often.

yep, breathing tube.

i would have kept the snail in the pond, as long as conditions and temperature were favourable for it. moving it to a 10 gallon that already has a goldfish in it will result in rising ammonia - snails are heavy waste producers, and adding it to a tank that is already too small for the fish it has in it could result in a mini cycle/ammonia spike. plus, your brother does not seem to be as educated as you are on fishkeeping, so the snail would probably be better off in the pond.

That's an awesome snail!! I'm with everyone else though, you should really not have put the poor snail in the tank with an inhabitant that is already to large for it :)

His brother doesn't *care* is the problem. If he cared, then Patrick and the forum could educate him, but he doesn't, so any attempt at education is as effective as talking to a brick.

We plan on releasing the snail within the week...

Good news! Last Saturday I convinced my brother to release an orange oranda.

BTW that snail is about the size of the orandas in the 10 gallon.

IK it would be better in the pond but I wanted to look at it for a day or two. The good part is that I do mantinence on that tank, scrape algae, 50% water changes, and I also make sure he feeds them.
