I know it's a sin, but i've never wanted to pay the (close to $100 AU) for a decent test kit. Fortunately Ebay showed me the way to a 'Freshwater Master Test Kit' for $36AU whereas they're $80 retail. I've never really had any problems with my tanks, but was always curious.
Please comment on my readings.
20 Gallon Community tank. Approx one year old. Inmates are 8~ Guppies, 1 WC Mountain Minnow, 2 juvenile Bristlenose, 4 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Mystery Snail and about a dozen Guppy fry.
Readings:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10
PH: 7.2
15% water change weekly with gravel vac. Slightly planted with DIY CO2, heavy on the driftwood. Filtration via canister.
5 Gallon tank. 3 weeks old. Inmates are 2 Guppies.
Readings:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 50
Nitrate: Between 0 and 5.
PH: 6.4
No water changes as of yet. No plants, with driftwood. Filtration via above trickle system.
