What to do with my Emerald Cory

Cory cats are wonderful in groups...remember when you get your larger tanks that the different species of cory cats tend to like more of their own kind....they don't really school together with other types of cories. Your emerald is the same species as the albino cories most lfs sell though, so you could have green and white. I have kept 21 of these little guys in a 125. They do grow to 2 1/2 inches give or take depending on male or female (females sometimes closer to 3). The more of them you have the more secure they feel and thus the more active they are. They tend to play follow the leader more so than school though. One will take off, then another couple follow...then finally a string of green and white darting around the tank.

I thought that emerald "cories" were actually not a cory, but a brochis catfish sp? http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/south-american-catfish/emerald-catfish/100121.asp I know that the "bronze cories" http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/catfish1/p/bronzecory.htm and the albino cories are both of the same species though, corydoras aeneus.

If what I thought is correct, then be sure to get more of the emerald catfish, for a 55, you could easily have at least 6. Then if you want to have white too, get 6 of the albino cories :)

Update - The Brochis Splendens (emerald "Cory") is very happy with 2 new friends, in a 50 gallon long tank, and some sand substrate mixed with a little eco-complete. They skittle around from left to right, and play in the filter return stream - very fun to watch.
